Matthew Marshall was born in the desert and raised in a family who predominantly worked in policing, nursing and the military. In his teenage years, he reached out into multiple forms of expression as a means to displace himself from a path that would lead him into the line of work of his father and his father’s father. He picked up painting at age eighteen. Since then he has studied studio art at Arizona State University earning a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a major in painting. The past four years his work has been developing in style with paintings that incorporate late baroque and modern expressionist styles. He currently resides in the Phoenix valley and continues to work and show in the area.
